The Perfect Horn Bow..what do you guys think?
hi all, i just wanted to get some opinions/advice on something...
i have a PERFECT 15%dmg over 50% horn bow.. and supposedly they have inherent 10% armor penetration each shot but of course, the slow refire just kills it. so heres my question... what would YOU guys recommend i throw on there to make it the PERFECT bow so that i can make use of that 10% armor pen (which in actuality makes this bow the most dmg per shot bow in the game, with medium range and accuracy)...? in my opinion vampiric and zealous strings would be a waste since the refire rate is so slow.. and apparently sundering strings are useless so what do u guys recommend for a good build...? thanks again... pic added Last edited by wesam the wicked; Jul 24, 2005 at 01:44 PM // 13:44.. |

1. The requirement for that bow is "13 markmanship" which is too high for some.
2. Hornbow is one of the worst bows. Just look: Refire Rate : 2.7 seconds which is the SLOWEST Range : 80 out of 100 ( grr.. ) Arrow flight time : 0.75 seconds which is bad. Best is 0.5 up to 1 second. My two cents: Get rid of it, don't waste your time on crapbows. I'd prefer a flatbow or an eternal bow. The flatbow got the LONGEST range and the FASTEST refire rate but lacks in flight time. It's 1 second though =/ Last edited by Paine; Jul 24, 2005 at 02:12 PM // 14:12.. |

ok thanks for ur input but...
1) im planning on keeping the bow, so requirement is no issue to me, bad for reselling, but thats not the case here 2)the Hornbow is not one of the worst bows by ne means, it has an average flight time/arch/accuracy (all the same category) and an average range (just outside of aggro), and yes it DOES have the slowest refire, but that is compensated for with the inherent 10% armor penetration---which means it of all the bows does the most dmg per shot because of this. http://forums.gwonline.net/showthread.php?t=355903 also, the flatbow has the Highest arch, which means worst accuracy, and longer time to reach target. therfore using it as a long range weapon would be useless because if the target is moving, the bow will not hit... and if the target is close or not moving, the high arch first of all like i said takes longer to hit, rendering it useless for interrupting or quick firing for lots of damage. |

Since Vamp and Zealous is ruled out, and as you rightly pointed out Sundering is useless, the natural choice left is an elemental string. People do bring in resistances/defenses vs lightning and fire. So your best bet is to use an Ebon Bow String.
For the Grip, use an Armor +5/Health +30 grip....either of this which suits your build. Go for the Armor +5 if you arent using any superior runes. About Hornbows being the worst, they certainly arent. Each bow has its pros and cons, and I'd use a hornbow over a flatbow anyday. |
